Somehow in the past several months, Himayura-san failed to mention she had a younger sister. Yuka-chan joined my class on Monday. She's only observing until the new year, but Himayura-san was quite emphatic that she be allowed to join after that. While I do have two other female students, Yuka-chan is at least a year younger than anyone else in the class. I was surprised at first that she was admitted, but the Himayura name apparently opens more doors than I realised.

Then, this afternoon, Himayura-san missed the committee's monthly budget meeting for an aikido class. It would seem Atobe-kun's abduction has had several unintended side effects, as I've since had nearly half of my classmates stop me in the halls to ask about private lessons in self-defense. The next person to ask will get a practical demonstration instead. For once, I'm inclined to view the holiday break as a relief.

My mother called after school to let me know that Ichihashi Tatsuya has been caught - in Osaka. Despite the fact Mineko-chan's physical therapy passed without incident, my mother remains convinced that she placed my sister directly in harm's way when she allowed her to leave Naha. News of Atobe-kun's abduction, unfortunately, seems only to have reinforced that idea. Unless my father can convince her otherwise, I doubt Mineko-chan will be attending school in Kyoto next year.

She called again as I was typing this to suggest that I stop working later shifts and, Hirakoba-kun, specifically asked me to tell you to be careful when you're out at night. My apologies if she attempts to actually call you, next.

My mother called yesterday, and it seems Mineko-chan will be discharged the sixth of next month. They'll be staying in Osaka over the weekend, however, and spending three days in Kyoto to meet with someone from Kyoto Tachibana Girls School, as Mineko-chan intends to transfer next semester.

... A customer yesterday invited me to this year's Yamanote Line Halloween party, and I've since had three co-workers ask for the details. Before you ask, Chinen, no you may not have them, either.

Had I known that heading the disciplinary committee would become the equivalent of babysitting the members, I would have made possessing a certain level of maturity a requirement. Chinen, baiting Himayura-san is not acceptable behavior now that she's stopped baiting you. And before you ask, I've already informed her that simply not speaking to you is equally intolerable. I will not sit through another meeting in which we waste forty-five minutes playing operator.

On the topic of babysitting, however, I've been asked to consider teaching a beginning-level kobudo class at the dojo.

Mineko-chan leaves for Osaka this afternoon. I'm still not certain of the details, but my mother will be staying until Monday to make sure she settles in, and also to talk with Oshitari-sensei and the others involved in overseeing Mineko-chan's recovery. She'll also want to go over the details of the payment plan she and my father settled on, I'm sure.


Kikumaru-kun ... your sister has a very interesting sense of humour, but perhaps you may want to let her know that the head of the line in a crowded Starbucks is usually not the best place to exercise it.

Hirakoba-kun, thanks for the suggestions on outlining our function as a student led, self-policing body. That seemed to be the main point of contention between the advisors, but Hyoutei's Disciplinary Committee is now operating on a probationary status for the first time in sixteen years. I would have thought the point self-evident, as each participating member is currently a student, but apparently I gave our advisory board too much credit.

Oh, and good luck on Monday, Kai, Hirakoba-kun. I'm sure Sengoku-san has enough to spare a little for you, ne?

My mother called while I was out this morning. She said she's with Mineko, at the emergency room, but didn't say why. When I tried to call her back, her phone was off, and I haven't been able to get ahold of my father. Hirakoba-kun, has your sister mentioned anything?
